Animal Ark A Sancuary for Life
Animal Ark is a 38-acre wildlife sanctuary and nature center northwest of Reno, Nevada. This facility’s rural setting provides an ideal place to house non-releasable wildlife and allows the public a unique opportunity to view these animals in natural habitat exhibits through glass viewing areas.

The “Birds in Flight” Seasonal Program Begins
Birds in FlightAnimal Ark features a series of shows focusing on various raptors and other birds. You will be amazed at the variety of birds and the acrobatic ability of these species. You will observe a Lanner Falcon, Yellow-headed Vulture, Eurasian Eagle Owl, a Saker Falcon, eagles, and the unforgettable African Pied Crow. Each of these species will showcase a special talent, including some active interactions with the audience. Animal Ark is very fortunate to be able to bring you these shows, with the help of Master Falconer, Martin Stiasny.

When: Saturday, June 13 Grand Opening, show runs through mid Sept.
Time: 10:15 am, every Saturday.
Admission: To both the park and show $12 for children, $16 for adults.

What if Animal Ark Did Not Exist?
It is February and high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains under a sliver of moonlight two shadows move quietly and effortlessly across the snow on large padded feet. It is a mountain lion with her seven month old kitten. The spots on the kitten are fading, but there is still another year before the young lion can be on its own. It has been awhile since they have eaten so the mother is intent upon searching for a familiar scent that will lead to food. The young male although probably hungry, is very curious and having a good time exploring his surroundings while at the same time trying to keep up with mom. Who knows what the kitten was doing when the world around him suddenly lit up under the glare of car headlights. Before he could react, there was a sickening thud, a bolt of pain as his leg and hip fractured, and then darkness……………

We are also open Mondays for: Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Animal Ark is closed during the winter; however we do try to open for one weekend depending on weather. This is a great opportunity to view the animals in their winter coats. Check our calendar or email us at info@animalark.org for more information.

From Reno: Take US 395 North to Red Rock Road (Exit 78). Turn right and drive 11.5 miles to Deerlodge Road. Turn right on Deerlodge Road, drive 1 mile and turn right into signed driveway.

It is advised to call ahead if there is any concern over inclement weather.
